Kelly Government Solutions offers administrative, IT, engineering, scientific, and healthcare professionals the opportunity to work with leading medical research centers, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical development companies in the world. We are seeking individuals qualified to work as a Biologist to support the mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Rockville, MD.
Duties include:
- Study basic principles of plant and animal life, such as origin, relationship, development, anatomy, and function
- Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings
- Maintain laboratory equipment
- Monitor operational procedures in technical environments to ensure conformance to standards
- Record research or operational data
- Participate in drug discovery and preclinical development efforts by designing and executing biological experiments and functional assays
- Support compound optimization by performing screening assays, analyzing potency/efficacy data, and contributing to mechanistic studies
- Develop and optimize assays to improve screening throughput, reproducibility, and overall experimental performance
- Evaluate and apply advanced disease models, including human iPSC-derived neurons and 3D organoid systems, for compound testing and biological characterization
- Participate in literature review and assay design to investigate receptor signaling and cellular mechanisms
- Present experimental findings and contribute to scientific discussions in team meetings
- Lead select validation and characterization efforts for promising compounds in physiologically relevant model systems
- Participate in high-throughput screening and follow-up studies to identify and prioritize lead candidates
- Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists and external partners
- Communicate results through presentations and scientific writing, contributing to publications and reports
Requirements
- Master’s degree in biology, Life Sciences, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience
- Experience in assay development, imaging analysis, and compound screening
- Experience working with in vitro and in vivo disease model systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
