Laboratory Operations Specialist
Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Laboratory Operations Specialist for a part-time position at a cutting-edge biotech company in Rancho Cordova, CA. $28-32/hour
Overview:
In this role, you will ensure smooth lab operations by maintaining and troubleshooting essential equipment, monitoring liquid nitrogen and safety systems, coordinating with vendors, resolving day-to-day issues, and responding flexibly to urgent needs in a dynamic lab environment.
Schedule:
Part-time: Monday through Friday, 4 hours/day
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot key laboratory equipment, including incubators, autoclaves, freezers, refrigerators, and safety showers.
- Oversee liquid nitrogen storage, monitor levels and alarms, and promptly address any temperature excursions or system failures.
- Support assembly, installation, and connection of lab equipment, tubing, and facility infrastructure, applying strong mechanical skills.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and SOPs to perform routine checks, basic troubleshooting, and resolve operational issues.
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance, repairs, and waste handling with external vendors and service providers, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance, monitoring logs, and operational activities to support audits and continuous improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field.
- Previous professional experience in laboratory operations, specifically hands-on experience with liquid nitrogen, incubators, and autoclaves.
- Mechanically inclined, comfortable with equipment assembly, troubleshooting, and performing operational tasks.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and respond to urgent or emergency situations.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols, GMP, or other regulated environments.
