Pay range : $19-25 depending on experience
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Machine Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring an extrusion press, setting new run practices, and ensuring the quality of extrusion in accordance with ISO standards.
Key Accountabilities/Job Functions:
Safely operate and monitor the extrusion press while coordinating the flow of information using the Epics system.
Proficiently use overhead cranes to move racks and handle scrap or finished bundles of extrusion.
Visually inspect metal for defects and perform etch testing safely and efficiently.
Communicate effectively with supervision, press operators, saw operators, and maintenance regarding order completion and any operational or equipment issues.
Demonstrate knowledge of press and saw information systems to verify alloy and temper information, cut length, and special handling requirements.
Perform log or billet transport from storage and manage loading functions associated with extrusion presses according to the master schedule.
Handle die transport from ovens and perform die set-up functions related to the extrusion presses.
Establish and implement new run practices for new extruded shapes.
Monitor quench rates and conduct quality checks according to established ISO procedures.
Perform quality assurance activities to ensure the acceptability of material processed through the work area.
React quickly to any malfunctions of the extrusion press and perform all functions associated with the extrusion press equipment.
Work efficiently to maximize productivity, measured by pounds per hour, recovery, downtime, complaints, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
Carry out miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned.
Job Scope:
Job Complexity: Moderate decision-making responsibility; failure to set or follow accurate run practices may result in non-conforming material, lost production, broken tooling, or equipment.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Contacts/Interaction: Regular interaction with co-workers, supervisors, and managers; occasional interaction with vendors and customers.
Job Qualifications:
Educational Background:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Special Skills and Abilities:
Must be a team player with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand measuring tolerances.
Self-motivated and adaptable to change.
Dress and appearance must conform to safety requirements.
Licenses Needed, Certifications, Special Training Courses:
Successful completion of Lock Out Tag Out and Hazardous Material Communication Training Programs per OSHA regulations.
Cultural Requirements:
Ability to function as a team player and accept personal accountability for job performance.
Ability to initiate and offer suggestions aimed at improving customer service.
Working Conditions:
The role will involve functioning in a manufacturing environment with safety protocols in place. Safety requirements are available in Human Resources.
