Controls Technician – Industrial Manufacturing

Location: Carlisle, PA
Schedule: We have both 2nd and 3rd shift available 

2nd shift: Mon-Fri | 3:00 PM-11:30 PM
3rd shift: Sun–Thur | 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Pay: $38.20/hour + $1.00 shift differential for 3rd and $1.50 shift differential for 2nd 
Sign on Bonus: $3,000 Sign-On Bonus

Position Summary

The Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of automated production equipment and industrial control systems. This role supports troubleshooting efforts, minimizes downtime, assists with preventive maintenance programs, and helps drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

The ideal candidate has strong electrical troubleshooting skills, PLC experience, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical and automation issues during assigned shift

  • Install, configure, maintain, and replace industrial control devices including:

    • PLCs

    • HMIs

    • VFDs

    • Sensors

    • DC drives


  • Support production by responding to downtime events and resolving system failures quickly

  • Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance programs

  • Support new equipment installations and startups

  • Troubleshoot industrial electrical AC/DC systems

  • Maintain control systems for:

    • Conveyors

    • Compressors

    • Motors

    • Hydraulics

    • Pneumatics

    • Pumps


  • Work alongside Controls Engineering on automation projects

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics

  • Perform calibrations on electrical control components

  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety, and company standards

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 5+ years of experience as a Controls Technician in an industrial manufacturing environment OR technical degree/certifications with relevant experience

  • Strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics

  • Familiarity with industrial safety procedures and OSHA standards

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred

  • Experience with:

    • Allen Bradley CompactLogix & ControlLogix

    • GE/Emerson 9030 & RX3i PLCs


  • Knowledge of:

    • Ladder Logic

    • Structured Text

    • HMIs

    • VFDs

    • CMMS systems


  • SAP experience

  • Technical military experience encouraged to apply

Work Environment

This position works inside a manufacturing facility and may include exposure to:

  • Industrial noise

  • Dust and chemicals

  • Mechanical equipment and moving machinery

  • Temperature changes

  • Fast-paced production operations

Required PPE includes safety glasses, FR uniforms, composite toe shoes, hearing protection, gloves, and other protective equipment as needed.


Physical Requirements

  • Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs

  • Frequent standing and walking

  • Bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing ladders/stairs

  • Ability to safely use tools and testing equipment

  • Ability to identify hazards and equipment malfunctions
