Pay: $35-$38/hr
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM (2nd Shift)

We’re looking for an experienced Automation Technician to support a high-volume food manufacturing operation in Romeoville, IL. In this role, you’ll be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining automated production and packaging equipment while ensuring maximum uptime, product quality, and food safety compliance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technician with strong electrical, controls, PLC, and mechanical troubleshooting experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated production, packaging, and conveyor systems to support continuous operations.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on food processing and packaging equipment.
- Perform troubleshooting and minor programming adjustments on PLCs and VFDs.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Maintain motors, starters, relays, timers, electrical panels, breakers, sensors, and control components operating at 110V, 230V, and 460V.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, equipment rebuilds, lubrication, and component replacements.
- Support packaging equipment including baggers, stackers, checkweighers, barcode systems, case erectors, and conveyor systems.
- Fabricate parts, modify equipment, and assist with machinery upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and work closely with production teams to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with Lockout/Tagout, food safety, SQF, GMP, and plant safety standards.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of maintenance, automation, or controls experience in a food, USDA, or FDA-regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley or Siemens preferred), VFDs, electrical systems, and industrial automation.
- Experience working with motors, controls, sensors, conveyors, packaging equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability initiatives.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with operations and maintenance teams.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
