Kelly Services is currently seeking a Functional Master Data Lead position for one of our top clients working remote.
- Kelly Outsourcing Consulting Group KellyOCG, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking a Functional Master Data Lead for an open ended engagement at one of our Global clients working remote. This role is a full-time, fully benefited position.

Position Overview
The Functional Master Data Lead is responsible for the governance, design, and execution oversight of functional master data within SAP S/4HANA environments.
This role ensures that critical functional data objects—including Bills of Material (BOMs), Routings, Source Lists, Contracts, Purchasing Info Records (PIRs), Quality Info Records (QIRs), Production Versions and other identified Functional Master Data within program—are accurately created, maintained, and aligned with enterprise standards and business requirements.
The role serves as a key interface between SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) orchestration and S/4 process workstream teams, ensuring that functional master data is created at the appropriate stage gates to enable end-to-end supply chain processes.
1. Functional Master Data Leadership
- Serve as the Master Data Governance SME for functional master data across Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Deliver, Finance, Intercompany, Source, Plan.
- Help to define and standardize data models, templates, and naming conventions
- Ensure consistent implementation of functional master data process across the Global Template
- Build relationships with Global Process Managers and key functional area SMEs to deep dive on processes ensuring understanding of the full scope required to achieve successful end-to-end execution.
2. Data Quality and Compliance
- Ensure Functional Master Data collection processes are aligned with Enterprise and MedTech data standards.
- Partner with Data Owners and Value Stream Leads to define ownership and accountability.
- Drive utilization of attribute derivations, validations and default values.
3. MDG Orchestration & S/4 Execution Alignment
- Collaborate with SAP MDG teams to ensure functional data creation is properly triggered and orchestrated.
- Align functional data readiness with material lifecycle stage gates (e.g., Plan Ready, Make/Logistics Ready, Sales Ready).
- Coordinate execution with functional teams responsible for maintaining data directly in S/4.
4. End-to-End Business Process Enablement
- Ensure functional master data enables key business processes across each Function.
- Identify and resolve gaps impacting operational readiness.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with:
- Supply Chain (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver)
- Quality, Regulatory, and Finance teams
- SAP Solution Architects
- Supply Chain (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver)
- Lead workshops, working sessions, and solution design discussions.
6. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Drive standardization and automation of functional master data processes.
- Recommend improvements leveraging SAP tools (Fiori, BTP, integrations).
- Promote reuse of global templates and leading practices.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of SAP experience, including:
- Strong expertise in SAP Material Master (MM)
- Deep experience with functional master data objects:
- BOMs, Routings, Production Versions
- Source Lists, Contracts, PIRs, QIRs
- BOMs, Routings, Production Versions
- Strong expertise in SAP Material Master (MM)
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations or transformations
- Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes
- Proven experience in data governance, standards, and master data management
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Confident in a high stress fast paced project
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP Certified Material Master Practitioner (or equivalent certification)
- Experience with SAP Master Data Governance (MDG)
- Exposure to SAP BTP, integrations, and workflow orchestration
- Experience in global template deployments or large-scale ERP programs
- Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., Medical Devices, Pharma, GxP)
- Strong documentation skill to translate business needs into actionable insights/requirements
