Direct Hire Press Brake Set Up Operator
Location: Wood Dale, IL
Hours: Monday–Friday 6am – 4:30pm
Pay: $26-38 based on experience

Kelly has partnered with a growing metal sheet fabrication company who is seeking an experienced Press Brake Set Up Operator with hands-on experience using Amada HRB 1003 equipment. This role is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC press brakes to produce high-quality sheet metal components that meet precise specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Amada HRB 1003 CNC press brake for both production and prototype work
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and work orders
- Select, install, and align appropriate tooling (punches, dies, back gauges)
- Program machine controls and adjust bend sequences, angles, and tonnage
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks
- Maintain tight tolerances and make real-time adjustments during production
- Inspect parts using calipers, angle finders, and precision measuring tools
- Troubleshoot machine, tooling, or setup issues quickly and effectively
- Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of CNC press brake setup and operation experience
- Experience with Amada press brakes (HRB series preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
- Strong understanding of bending principles, material behavior, and tooling selection
- Familiarity with CNC programming and machine controls
- Experience using precision measurement tools
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Amada AMNC or AMNC 3i controls
- Background in sheet metal fabrication or job shop environment
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
- Ability to train or mentor junior operators
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Perform repetitive motions including bending and lifting
