Refrigeration Technician
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Pay: $28.00 an hour
Shift: 8 weeks of training on Shift 1 (6am–4pm); transitioned to Shift 2 (6pm–6am).
Summary:
Kelly Services is hiring a Temporary Refrigeration Technician professional with a strong mechanical aptitude, supporting the upkeep, appearance, and functionality of plant facilities and exterior grounds. Experienced working under senior technicians or supervisors to develop foundational building maintenance skills, with keen interest in refrigeration systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supported maintenance of facility lighting, drains, and simple building systems (painting, caulking, patching walls, adjusting doors, replacing fixtures, and plumbing repairs).
- Assisted in basic electrical repairs under supervision, including work with 480V systems, lamp replacement, and troubleshooting minor issues.
- Participated in ammonia awareness, LOTO, confined space, and other safety training programs.
- Maintained accurate logs and ensured all work was completed safely in accordance with GMP, SQF, and OSHA standards.
- Conducted routine preventive maintenance and visual checks on plant utilities components.
- Worked collaboratively within a team while demonstrating initiative and mechanical problem-solving ability.
Technical Skills:
- Basic electrical repairs and facility maintenance.
- Troubleshooting and routine preventive maintenance.
- Safety awareness (LOTO, PPE, hazard recognition).
Certifications:
- EPA 608 Universal Certification (in progress; expected within 12 months).
- OSHA-compliant workplace safety training.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
Other Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in refrigeration systems and industrial maintenance.
- Ability to read and follow instructions, procedures, and schematics.
- Experience with maintenance logs and documentation.
Preferred Experience:
- 1–2 years of general maintenance or industrial mechanical experience (including HVAC/electrical coursework or equivalent).
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
