Job Title: Assembly Operator III
Shift: Weekend (Friday–Sunday), 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Pay Rate: $26.84/hr ($22/hr base + 22% premium shift differential)
Location: Fairview, NC
Position Overview:
We are looking for a motivated Assembly Operator III specializing in fiber optics. In this role, you will assemble, terminate, and test fiber optic cable assemblies and connectors to ensure exceptional product quality. You will also participate in process development and problem-solving as we launch new products. The ideal candidate thrives under schedule pressures, adapts quickly to changing priorities, and is dedicated to maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Polish, test, and inspect fiber optic cables
- Assemble and package connector components
- Terminate single and multi-fiber cables
- Operate fiber routers and complete over-molding processes
- Support prototype, test, and NPI (New Product Introduction) builds
- Use calipers, gauges, and other devices to accurately measure components
- Maintain operational paperwork for product traceability
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on equipment
- Apply proper cleaning methods and contamination controls for assemblies
- Operate equipment safely, identify issues, and suggest process improvements
- Communicate effectively within the team to ensure clarity and customer satisfaction
- Inspect products to meet quality standards, work instructions, and blueprints
- Ensure workplace organization and compliance with TE Connectivity’s safety and policies
- Work independently after training, delivering timely and high-quality products
- Support production goals, including overtime as needed
- Work in a clean room, wearing required gowning and PPE
Qualifications:
- Ability to visually differentiate color-coded fiber optic cables
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 1 year of assembly manufacturing experience; fiber optic experience preferred
- Familiarity with manufacturing principles: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity
- SAP Manufacturing and ISO 9001 experience are advantages
- Strong hand-eye coordination and motor skills for delicate tasks
- Comfortable using hand tools and reading blueprints
- Experience working with small parts under a microscope in a clean room
- Strong time management skills; able to multitask efficiently
- Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to documented instructions
- Team-oriented, dependable, and maintains integrity with confidential information
- Safety and quality-conscious attitude
- Physical requirements:
- Lift/move up to 50 lbs
- Remain stationary up to 75% of shift
- Operate machinery, move between work zones
- Lift/move up to 50 lbs
- Proficient in understanding and following written English instructions
