Strategic Purchasing Manager – Purchasing Business Development Manager
Greensboro, NC (Onsite)
Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $62.50/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | First Shift (8:00 AM–5:00 PM)

Kelly Services is seeking an experienced Strategic Purchasing Manager to join a global manufacturing organization in Greensboro, NC. This is an exciting contract-to-hire opportunity for a procurement and supply chain professional who excels at building supplier relationships, driving strategic sourcing initiatives, and partnering with cross-functional teams to improve business performance.

In this role, you will serve as the primary purchasing business partner for assigned business units, helping shape sourcing strategies, identify supplier innovations, and drive operational excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic purchasing initiatives that support business growth and long-term supply chain objectives.

  • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, and other business leaders to align sourcing strategies with organizational priorities.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers while identifying opportunities for innovation, cost savings, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead supplier development initiatives and evaluate supplier capabilities to support future business needs.

  • Participate in new product and service development by ensuring purchasing requirements are incorporated early in the planning process.

  • Analyze market trends, supplier performance, business risks, and sourcing opportunities to provide recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Prepare executive presentations, business cases, reports, and strategic recommendations for leadership teams.

  • Coordinate cross-functional meetings and governance activities to drive alignment and timely decision-making.

  • Promote standardized purchasing processes, best practices, and supplier engagement strategies across the organization.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance supplier performance, operational efficiency, and overall business competitiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, purchasing, supply chain, supplier management, or category management.

  • Strong background developing sourcing strategies and managing supplier relationships.

  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing stakeholders across multiple business functions.

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to prepare executive-level reports and present recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or heavy equipment environments is highly preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and business reporting tools.
