R&D Formulation Technician| Indianapolis, IN
Join a collaborative, fast-paced R&D team where you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting formulation work under the guidance of experienced scientists. This is a great opportunity for a recent chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering graduate who is reliable, quick to learn, and eager to grow in a lab environment.
 
Pay & Schedule

  • Contract: 1-year assignment, with possible extension or conversion

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard workweek; start times may range from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, with work completed within the 6:00 AM–6:00 PM window

  • Location: Indianapolis, IN
     

The Role: What You’ll Do
As an R&D Formulation Contractor, you’ll support formulation development and testing activities under supervision, with training provided through shadowing and hands-on lab onboarding.

  • Formulation Support: Prepare and make formulations at small-to-medium scale, ranging from milliliters up to 5L.

  • Testing & Assessment: Perform basic assessments of formulations and record observations accurately.

  • Lab Work: Use general chemical lab equipment and techniques, including balances, pH meters, mixing equipment, milling equipment, and sample prep tools.

  • Data & Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of work performed using Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Safety: Handle hazardous chemicals safely and follow required lab practices.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with a large, collaborative team and communicate clearly with scientists and teammates.

  • Housekeeping: Keep the lab organized, clean, and audit-ready through strong housekeeping habits.

 
Training & Support
You’ll begin with a couple of weeks of shadowing a scientist before taking on work under supervision. This role is structured for someone who can learn quickly and build confidence through training, feedback, and repetition. The team environment is collaborative and supportive, with opportunities to continue developing technical skills over time.
 

Qualifications
We’re looking for candidates who bring the following:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: No industry experience required; prior hands on lab exposure through academic labs is required.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Mindset: Reliable, adaptable, eager to learn, and committed to continuous growth.

  • Work Style: Strong attention to detail and good housekeeping habits.
     

Core Skills

  • Basic chemical lab training and comfort working with standard lab equipment.

  • Ability to follow instructions and complete work under supervision.

  • Basic data entry and documentation skills using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Safe handling of hazardous chemicals and materials.

  • Ability to contribute positively in a large, collaborative team environment.
