Title: Legal Assistant II in Phoenix, AZ 85004
PR: Starts at $18.66
Shift: 8-5; M-F. (Initially Fully Onsite, Eligible for Hybrid after Training) Term: 6 months (Temp – Hire)

Duties/Responsibilities
• Review incoming appeals, retrieve and select exhibits for hearings, and distinguish between multiple programs and appeal types
• Create and distribute hearing packets for Administrative Law Judges (ALJs); schedule hearings and assist with elevated docket calls
• Enter and maintain case documentation, upload legal decisions/dispositions, and assist ALJs with legal research and case analysis
• Interpret and analyze complex eligibility, overpayment, licensing, certification, and fraud cases in benefit programs
• Ensure accurate, timely case work in compliance with federal/state laws, Administrative Procedures Act, and agency deadlines
• Organize and maintain confidential files; manage multiple cases, prioritize deadlines, and follow office policies/procedures
• Communicate professionally with ALJs, agency staff, customers, and external parties; handle customer service requests and complaints
• Use Google Suite, Microsoft, Adobe, case management systems (APS, Clear2There, Guide mainframe, HEAplus, AZTECS, CACTUS), and other office software.
Required Qualifications
• Computer skills (Google Suite/Microsoft/Adobe); multitasking across platforms
• Strong organizational skills, detail orientation, and critical/analytical thinking
• Ability to research, interpret, and manage confidential and complex case information
• Professional communication (verbal/written/reading) and customer service techniques
• High attention to accuracy, ability to work independently, handle confidential data, and manage competing priorities
• Experience working with case management systems and legal document preparation
Preferred Experience/Certifications
• Legal education or background
• Experience in Arizona Public Assistance & Unemployment Insurance law, legal research, or administrative hearing support
