Kelly Services is hiring a Gate & Automation Service Technician for a growing commercial and residential service operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on gate system experience who enjoys troubleshooting, field service work, and helping build a newer division with room for advancement.

In this role, you’ll service automated gates, access control systems, operators, motors, safety devices, and related equipment. You’ll join an established company while supporting the continued growth of its gate automation and access control services.

  • Base Pay: $25–$32 per hour, based on experience


  • Additional Pay Opportunity: Many assignments are performed under government or prevailing-wage contracts and may pay above the standard base rate. Actual pay will vary by project, contract requirements, and applicable wage determinations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing automated gate systems


  • Working on slide, swing, cantilever, vertical-lift, barrier-arm, and crash-rated gates


  • Maintaining and repairing high-security gate systems


  • Troubleshooting operators, motors, control boards, safety loops, photo eyes, keypads, intercoms, and access control devices


  • Performing preventive maintenance and scheduled service work


  • Supporting new installations, upgrades, and system expansions


  • Responding to emergency service calls as needed


  • Participating in an on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend service

This Role May Be a Great Fit If You

  • Have at least 2 years of hands-on automated gate system experience


  • Have strong mechanical troubleshooting skills


  • Have working electrical knowledge, including low-voltage systems and basic 120V/240V


  • Can read wiring diagrams and manufacturer documentation


  • Are comfortable working independently in the field


  • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record


  • Are dependable, safety-focused, and customer-service oriented


  • Can complete a criminal background check


  • Can pass a pre-employment drug screen, including marijuana

Preferred Experience

  • LiftMaster, DoorKing, HySecurity, FAAC, Nice, Viking, Linear, or similar systems


  • UL 325 standards and compliance


  • Commercial, HOA, industrial, or high-security gate environments


  • Access control and telephone entry systems


  • Welding or fabrication, preferred but not required
