Job Title: Chemist II/III
Location: Mission Viejo, CA
Duration:6 months (Contract-to-Hire)
Rate: $35-40/hr. (commensurate w/ experience and title)
Schedule: 8am-4:30p, | Mon-Fri
Job Duties
- Verifies the accuracy and completeness of testing and paperwork related to raw materials, in-process and finished products.
- Supports the R&D Associate Director in the development of procedures and documents as necessary.
- Supports the R&D Associate Director in the analytical development of raw materials and new or existing products.
- Maintains Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) documentation of laboratory activities.
- Prioritizes the sampling, testing and paperwork related to raw materials and in-process products.
- Ensures that all contract lab testing is performed and requested in a timely manner.
- Coordinates and orders laboratory supplies, solvents and reagents.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills with colleagues and vendors and/or third parties.
Experience Required
- Minimum B.A. in Chemistry or other related scientific discipline and 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in working in a cGMP regulated analytical laboratory.
- Working knowledge of method development and validation principles as related to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and other laboratory methodology/techniques.
- Microbiological testing experience is a plus.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
Special Skill and/or Education
- Working Knowledge of HPLC (Shimadzu) instrumentation, principles, software, troubleshooting and handling of analytical data.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret, perform and troubleshoot a variety of compendial (USP/EP/JP) testing procedures.
- Ability to neatly and accurately record and report analytical data.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities under minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of and experience using general laboratory equipment such as pH meters, pipettes, and volumetric glassware.
