Job Title: Material Handler
Location: Raleigh NC 27604
Shift: 8am-4:30pm
Pay: $17.00/hour
Position Objective
The Material Handler will support warehouse operations by providing shipping, receiving, storage, and order fulfillment services for finished goods, inventory, materials, supplies, parts, and equipment. The position requires attention to detail, quality, and compliance with customer and site standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and process items for storage and shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.
- Ensure customers receive the correct products within the requested timeframe by maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality.
- Receive materials and/or finished goods daily; verify the correct quantity, quality, and type of materials, ensuring appropriate documentation (e.g., packing lists) is present.
- Work in a warehouse environment with variable temperatures:
- Room temperature (59–86°F)
- Cold-room (36–46°F)
- Freezer-room (-4–23°F)
- Room temperature (59–86°F)
- Safely operate distribution equipment and powered industrial trucks (order pickers, forklifts) at various heights.
- Complete all Thermo Fisher Scientific training requirements and operate within all ISO standards relevant to site distribution (including Control of Documents and Quality Policy).
- Demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with team members and internal customers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-2 years of related experience; some experience in logistics with a life science company is preferred.
- 1 year forklift experience
- Consistent and independent ability to follow policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Commitment to excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively in routine work situations and recognize deviations from standard practice.
- Must be able to operate warehouse and powered industrial equipment (training provided).
