Vice President, Global Sourcing

A leading, high-growth global manufacturer is seeking a results-oriented Vice President, Global Sourcing to lead procurement and supply chain excellence across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Position Overview
This executive will define and execute global sourcing strategy, overseeing all procurement activities supporting extensive, international manufacturing operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead the strategic sourcing of direct and raw materials, global commodities, supplier partnerships, and contract manufacturing, ensuring operational, financial, and growth objectives are consistently achieved.

You will provide executive leadership to an international sourcing team, advancing supplier performance and continuity of supply, managing risk, and optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO) across a robust manufacturing network.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership

• Shape and execute a global sourcing strategy aligned with corporate vision, operational priorities, and long-term business goals.
  

• Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team on procurement, commodity markets, supplier strategy, and sourcing initiatives.
  

• Build and develop a best-in-class global sourcing organization; lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of direct reports.
  

• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Management

• Spearhead sourcing initiatives across critical commodities, including: steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, resins, fabricated metals, packaging, electronics, and other direct materials.
  

• Monitor global commodity markets, tariffs, freight costs, currency fluctuations, geopolitical risks, and supply chain trends to identify risks and capture opportunities.
  

• Drive overall supplier productivity: balancing cost, quality, delivery, innovation, and supply continuity.
  

• Establish innovative strategies to improve competitiveness and minimize TCO.

Supplier & Contract Manufacturing Leadership

• Cultivate executive-level relationships with strategic suppliers and manufacturing partners globally.
  

• Lead supplier selection, qualification, development, and ongoing performance management.
  

• Negotiate complex agreements, pricing structures, commercial terms, and long-term contracts.
  

• Manage strategic partnerships with global contract manufacturers and OEM/ODM partners to support manufacturing operations.
  

• Inspire supplier innovation and continuous cost reduction initiatives while ensuring uncompromising quality and customer satisfaction.
  

• Develop agile contingency sourcing strategies to mitigate supplier risk and guarantee continuity of supply.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams to align sourcing strategies across the business.
  

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring supplier capabilities meet future manufacturing and innovation requirements.
  

• Lead supplier engagement through RFI, RFQ, and RFP processes, driving timely and effective project execution.
  

• Collaborate with Legal to negotiate and execute agreements that safeguard business interests.

Operational Excellence

• Own and drive: Bill of Material (BOM) costs, supplier performance, cost reduction efforts, purchase price variance (PPV), supplier quality, delivery, inventory optimization, supplier scorecards, and contract compliance.
  

• Leverage market intelligence, should-cost modeling, and TCO analysis for data-driven decision making.
  

• Continuously enhance procurement efficiency, supplier productivity, and operational results.

Qualifications
Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
  

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Global Sourcing, Strategic Procurement, Supply Chain, or Operations.
  

• Demonstrated success leading executive-level sourcing teams in consumer product, durable goods, or high-volume manufacturing sectors.
  

• Enterprise-wide sourcing leadership, including international manufacturing operations.
  

• Deep experience sourcing commodities: steel, metals, plastics, resins, and raw materials.
  

• Proven negotiating expertise in complex supplier agreements and strategic contracts.
  

• Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen with credibility at the executive level.
  

• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with Product Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Finance.

Preferred:

• MBA or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline.
  

• Professional certifications (APICS, CPSM, CPM, CSCP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.).
  

• Experience managing contract manufacturing, OEM, and ODM partnerships globally.
  

• Experience supporting manufacturing operations across multiple international regions.
  

• Project Management methodology exposure.
