We’re seeking Chemical Operators to work with one of our top clients in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry in Anasco, PR. With Kelly, it’s all about finding the job that’s just right for you.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:
- An Associate Degree in Natural Sciences, preferably Chemistry or Chemical Engineering Technology.
- Experience in a similar chemical, manufacturing, medical device, or pharmaceutical position preferred.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP/cGMP) and safety procedures preferred.
- Ability to accurately follow manufacturing instructions, procedures, and production documentation.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to enter transactions and production information in systems such as SAP.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to inspect materials and products for quality and cosmetic defects.
- Availability to work 12-hour shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., including weekends and overtime when required.
Education consideration: Candidates with a high school diploma and relevant chemical, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical experience may also be considered, based on client requirements.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Chemical Operator, you will support the production of acrylic sheets and buttons while following established manufacturing, quality, safety, and environmental procedures. Responsibilities include:
- Purify five types of monomers, or raw materials, to achieve the required degree of purification for the Sheet Casting process.
- Prepare molds and stoichiometric mixtures of monomers according to Manufacturing Instruction (MI) specifications.
- Receive, identify, and store chemicals in the appropriate locations in compliance with GMP and safety requirements.
- Place monomer mixtures into molds and operate water-curing baths at the temperatures specified in applicable procedures.
- Remove molds from the water-curing bath, demold sheets when applicable, and transfer them to the curing oven for drying.
- Remove and inspect sheets for thickness and cosmetic defects to ensure compliance with process specifications.
- Operate the punch press to produce the required quantity of buttons according to the nominal process yield.
- Place buttons on trays and load them into annealing ovens to remove moisture and other potential contaminants.
- Perform visual inspections of buttons for cosmetic defects and verify the required quantity per tray.
- Perform the Haze operation to evaluate lens opacity and determine disposition according to the applicable MI.
- Install temperature-monitoring charts in chart recorder equipment and monitor them according to established procedures.
- Store and dispose of liquid and solid waste within the designed area in accordance with EHS rules and regulations.
- Complete production orders and required documentation in compliance with GMP requirements.
- Enter SAP transactions for accepted and rejected units and materials to ensure accurate production and quality reports.
- Clean and wash equipment and maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition using approved chemicals.
- Review logbooks to support quality processes and maintain required document retention records.
