Location: Pottstown High School — CTE Department
Position Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:20 AM – 2:50 PM
Calendar: Follows the Pottstown School District Calendar (School Holidays & Summers Off!)
Position Overview
Are you skilled with your hands, comfortable around shop tools, and passionate about mentoring the next generation? Pottstown High School is seeking a reliable, adaptable, and patient CTE Classroom Instructional Aide to support hands-on learning across our Career and Technical Education programs.
In this dynamic role, you won’t be tied to a single classroom. You will rotate through our trade programs providing crucial instructional support, safety oversight, and guidance. If you thrive in active environments and want to make a direct, positive impact on Pottstown youth, this is the position for you.
Key Responsibilities
· Hands-On Classroom Support: Assist CTE instructors in facilitating classroom and practical, shop-floor learning.
· Safety & Tool Oversight: Demonstrate, monitor, and enforce shop safety protocols. Ensure students use power tools, hand tools, machinery, and commercial kitchen equipment correctly.
· Student Mentorship: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce practical skills, troubleshoot projects, and build career confidence.
· Classroom Operations: Help set up tools, raw materials, and equipment for daily lab activities, and assist with shop cleanup and inventory maintenance.
· Behavioral Support: Foster a positive, structured, and patient environment, helping manage classroom dynamics with empathy, consistency, and respect.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
· Hands-On Technical Savvy: Demonstrated experience and high comfort level operating power tools, shop equipment, and trade machinery (construction, mechanical, or general trade background preferred).
· Youth Experience: Proven track record of successfully working with, mentoring, or guiding high-school-aged youth from diverse and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
· Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent (Associate degree or trade certification is a plus). Related industry certifications desirable.
· Clearances: Ability to obtain required PA State clearances (PA Criminal History, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprinting).
Key Attributes for Success:
· Exceptional Patience: The ability to stay calm, encouraging, and approachable when guiding teens through complex tasks or supporting students facing external stressors.
· Adaptability: Comfortable transitioning between different trade environments and learning the routines of various instructors.
· Relatability & Empathy: Strong communication skills to build trust, mutual respect, and rapport with Pottstown High School students.
Perks & Schedule
· Schedule: Consistent daily hours (7:20 AM – 2:50 PM), keeping your evenings completely free.
· Built-In Time Off: Enjoy all Pottstown School District calendar holidays, seasonal, and summer breaks.
· Community Impact: Help equip local Pottstown students with real-world, industry-ready skills that open doors to post-secondary success.
