Kelly® is seeking an experienced Associate Scientist for a temporary opportunity supporting research and development within the animal health industry.
This position contributes to the development, testing, and production of animal vaccines. The Associate Scientist will work in a collaborative laboratory environment supporting experimental studies, assay and process development, and broader R&D objectives.
What You’ll Do
- Support the development, production, and testing of experimental vaccines
- Design and conduct laboratory experiments in support of R&D objectives
- Perform classical virology, microbiology, and molecular biology techniques
- Conduct cell culture, Western blot, ELISA, PCR, and agarose gel electrophoresis
- Support assay, process, and product development activities
- Analyze experimental results and maintain accurate laboratory records
- Follow established SOPs and laboratory procedures
- Apply aseptic techniques and appropriate laboratory practices
- Collaborate with scientists, technicians, and other cross-functional team members
- Communicate technical requirements and results clearly and professionally
- Assist with training or oversight of laboratory technicians or assistant scientists as needed
- Perform additional laboratory and research activities as assigned
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Immunology, or a related life science

At least 5 years of post-graduate laboratory experience
-
Strong hands-on biological laboratory skills and aseptic technique

Experience with microbiology and/or virology
-
Proficiency with cell culture, Western blot, ELISA, PCR, and agarose gel electrophoresis

Strong laboratory documentation skills and ability to read and follow SOPs
-
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a research team

Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Self-motivated with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Strongly Preferred:
-
At least 3 years of industry experience in assay, process, or product development
-
Previous experience supporting vaccine, biologics, animal health, or related product development
-
Experience training or providing guidance to laboratory personnel
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on laboratory position that may require sitting or standing for extended periods. Occasional bending and lifting may also be required. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
