Job details
Our client is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support production operations, improve manufacturing processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in Northbrook, IL. This is a contract-to-permanent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working directly on the manufacturing floor to improve production processes throughout.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on engineering support for production lines, equipment, tooling, and manufacturing processes
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Lead continuous improvement and cost-reduction projects
- Improve quality, throughput, cycle time, productivity, safety, and overall efficiency
- Apply Lean/Six Sigma tools, including 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, standard work, and waste reduction
- Analyze manufacturing data and process capability to identify improvement opportunities
- Support CAPA, SCAR, GMP, validations, and manufacturing documentation
- Coordinate equipment upgrades, modifications, maintenance, and capacity improvements
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Product Development on manufacturing initiatives
- Support new product introductions and transfers into production
Requirements:
- Manufacturing Engineering experience in a production environment
- Strong Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement background
- Hands-on equipment and process troubleshooting experience
- Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA, process improvement, and manufacturing data
- Strong project management and cross-functional communication skills
