Location: Baytown, Texas
Pay Rate: $25.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shift — DuPont schedule
Travel: 30% travel may be required
Physical Requirement: Be able to lift 30-50 consistantly

Position Summary

The Field Service Center Technician serves a dual-function role within the Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) delivery model. Primarily based at the designated Service Center in Baytown, Texas, this position supports equipment uptime, peak-demand response, and technician training activities across customer Service Centers.

When Service Center workflow permits, the technician will also deploy to customer sites as a Field Service Representative (FSR). This role is essential to maintaining the availability of water treatment assets and developing the operational capabilities of the service team.

Key Responsibilities

Service Center Operations

  • Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on equipment staged for deployment or refurbishment.

  • Support equipment uptime objectives and readiness requirements.

  • Assist with equipment preparation, testing, and mobilization during peak-demand periods.

  • Conduct hands-on training for Field Service Representatives and operator-level personnel on:

    • Equipment operation

    • Maintenance procedures

    • Safety protocols


  • Maintain accurate inventories of spare parts, consumables, and chemical stocks.

  • Initiate replenishment orders as needed.

  • Document Service Center activities, equipment condition reports, and training records in accordance with site standard operating procedures.

  • Support general Service Center operations during seasonal and non-seasonal peak-demand periods.

Field Service Responsibilities

As assigned, the technician will:

  • Operate, monitor, and optimize water treatment systems at customer facilities, including:

    • Media filtration

    • Ultrafiltration (UF)

    • Reverse osmosis (RO)

    • Ion exchange (IX)

    • Deoxygenation

    • Electrodeionization (EDI)

    • Clarification

    • Bioreactors

    • Filter presses

    • Chemical injection systems


  • Troubleshoot and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment, including:

    • Motors

    • PLCs

    • Variable frequency drives (VFDs)

    • Valves

    • Air compressors

    • Ejectors

    • Process pumps

    • Blowers

    • Instrumentation


  • Conduct analytical testing for turbidity, hardness, chlorine, pH, CO?, O?, SDI, TOC, and other site-specific parameters.

  • Communicate system status and technical findings to customer management and operations teams.

  • Prepare detailed technical summaries of work performed.

  • Maintain accurate and current site paperwork and field service records.

  • Respond to emergency service requests.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following experience and education requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with at least five years of service, maintenance, or operations experience in an industrial environment; or

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, STEM, or a related technical field, or a technical certificate in instrumentation, controls, or a related discipline, with at least two years of relevant experience.

Additional requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required site access credentials.

  • Ability and willingness to perform physical duties, including lifting, climbing, working at elevated heights, and entering confined spaces.

  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively.

  • Ability to work rotating schedules and provide on-call and emergency response support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PLC control systems, PLC programming, and controls troubleshooting.

  • Previous experience in water treatment operations or industrial services.

  • Experience mentoring or training technician-level personnel.

Working Conditions

  • Primary work location: Service Center in Baytown, Texas.

  • Deployment to additional Service Center locations may be required, including St. Peters, Missouri, and East Hartford, Connecticut.

  • Work may take place in industrial manufacturing facilities, chemical plants, refineries, and power-generation facilities.

  • Rotating schedules and on-call availability are required.

  • Emergency response may be necessary outside of standard working hours.

Physical and Travel Requirements

This position requires the ability to work in industrial environments and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, working at heights, and confined-space entry. Extensive travel to customer sites and other Service Center locations may be required.
