CNC Programmer

Location: East Syracuse, NY
Pay: $35–$40 per hour, based on experience (plus 10% shift premium) 
Shift: 2nd shift, with training on 1st shift

We’re seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to develop programs and manufacturing instructions for precision machined parts. This role works with horizontal and vertical machining centers in a prototype and low-volume production environment, primarily machining aluminum castings and some aluminum billet.

What You’ll Do

  • Create medium- to high-complexity CNC programs using 3-axis or higher CAM software.


  • Simulate programs before posting code to prevent collisions and reduce machining time.


  • Select tooling, gauges, speeds, feeds, and operation sequences from engineering drawings.


  • Support initial setups, program prove-outs, and first-piece approval before turning production over to machinists.


  • Troubleshoot and revise programs to improve quality, cycle time, and productivity.


  • Develop setup instructions and tooling lists for the shop.


  • Partner with Quality on CMM and manual inspection processes.


  • Recommend changes to processes, equipment, or part designs when they can improve manufacturability.


  • Maintain accurate records and follow ISO quality and shop safety procedures.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience programming and machining complex geometries; approximately 4 years of CNC programming experience is preferred.


  • Mastercam experience preferred.


  • Ability to read blueprints and apply algebra, trigonometry, and machining calculations.


  • Strong troubleshooting, organization, communication, and time-management skills.


  • Associate degree in mechanical technology or equivalent hands-on experience.


  • Ability to work independently and lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
