CNC Machinist I

Location: East Syracuse, NY
Base pay: $27–$36 per hour, based on experience
Shift: 2nd shift, with training on 1st shift
Shift premium: An additional 10% above the base rate applies when working 2nd shift.

We’re seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate horizontal and vertical machining centers producing precision components in a prototype and low-volume manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do

• Read blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to set up and operate 3- and 4-axis CNC mills.

  
  

• Select and install the correct fixtures and tooling and establish machining parameters.

  
  

• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment and documented quality plans.

  
  

• Troubleshoot machining problems and adjust setups or programs to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

  
  

• Edit or write basic machining macros as needed.

  
  

• Maintain production records and communicate job status and issues between shifts.

  
  

• Perform routine machine maintenance and help prevent unplanned downtime.

  
  

• Share setup and troubleshooting knowledge with less experienced machinists.

  
  

• Follow quality, safety, and housekeeping procedures.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 7 years of CNC machining experience setting up, operating, and optimizing vertical and horizontal machining centers.

  
  

• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills.

  
  

• Working knowledge of CNC programming principles and basic macros.

  
  

• Ability to troubleshoot issues during first-piece approval and production.

  
  

• High school diploma or equivalent.

  
  

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
