ACCOUNTING CLERK

Location: Hartford, CT
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote
Pay: $25–$27/hour
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire (potential for direct hire for the right candidate)

This is an opportunity to join a Connecticut-based nonprofit organization supporting the state’s manufacturing industry. The Accounting Clerk will provide support with daily financial operations, accounting data entry, accounts payable and receivable, record maintenance, and resolving payment discrepancies.

This position is bonus eligible once hired permanently.

Responsibilities:

  • Enter vendor invoices and operational expenses into QuickBooks Online Advanced

  • Record and reconcile accounts receivable payments and project fees

  • Cross-reference payments, invoices, and client records in Salesforce

  • Review and categorize employee expense reports, credit card transactions, and receipts

  • Research and resolve vendor and client payment discrepancies

  • Maintain accurate, organized, audit-ready financial records and digital files

  • Verify and update client/contact information between Salesforce and QuickBooks

  • Work with vendors and internal teams to resolve payment and account issues

  • Perform other duties as needed to support the Finance department

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of accounting experience

  • Experience with accounting software for accounts payable and reporting

  • QuickBooks Online experience a plus

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including sorting data and basic formulas

  • Strong data-entry accuracy and attention to numerical detail

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle confidential information

  • Prior nonprofit experience a plus
