CNC Machinist – Tooling Department
Location: Farmington, CT
Pay Range: $30-$35/hour based on experience
Shift: 2nd Shift, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM
Shift Differential: Additional $1.50/hour for 2nd shift
Position Overview
We are hiring an experienced CNC Machinist to join our Tooling Department. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC and other machine tools used in the production of precision tooling, including punches, strippers, and dies.
The CNC Machinist will perform initial production runs, assist with developing programming, fixtures, and machining methods, and troubleshoot process-related issues to ensure quality and production requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities

Interpret routings, work instructions, engineering drawings, and blueprints to complete production orders.

Create and edit CNC programs, including determining appropriate speeds and feeds for tooling production.

Set up and operate CNC machines, machine tools, work-holding equipment, and related tooling according to production schedules.

Perform initial production runs and support the development of machining processes, fixtures, and methods.

Produce precision tooling components, including punches, strippers, and dies.

Troubleshoot and correct process-related issues as they arise.

Use and interpret a variety of precision measurement tools to verify dimensional accuracy and ensure quality standards are met.

Support and initiate improvements to production processes and methods within the Tooling Department.

Perform daily and weekly 5S workplace organization and housekeeping activities.

Perform assigned TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) tasks, including daily, weekly, and monthly operator maintenance.

Operate equipment safely and follow all applicable safety procedures and requirements.

Complete assigned safety training and remain current on required safety practices.

Work effectively with team members and other departments to meet production and quality objectives.
Qualifications & Experience

Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience.

Strong mechanical machining experience, including material removal processes such as:

Turning
-
Milling
-
Grinding
-
EDM
-
-
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, routings, and work instructions.

Experience setting up and operating CNC machinery.

Ability to create and/or edit CNC programs, including speeds and feeds.

Proficiency with precision measurement equipment and inspection techniques.

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment.
Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.
