Electro-Mechanical Assembler — Fine-Pitch Soldering
Kelly Services is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Assembler for our client in Lockport, IL.
Candidates with fine-pitch SMT soldering or rework experience under magnification are especially encouraged to apply.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, with potential for direct hire after 3–4 months based on performance and attendance.
Pay: $18–$22/hour, based on experience
Hours: 1st shift: 7 a.m.– 3:30 p.m.
Job Summary
Build electronic and mechanical subassemblies, including box builds, cable harnesses, and general electro-mechanical assemblies. The role includes hands-on assembly, soldering, inspection, and production tasks.
What You’ll Do
- Perform basic and advanced electro-mechanical assembly.
- Assemble wires, cables, and harnesses.
- Solder and rework fine-pitch SMT components under magnification—a strong advantage for this role.
- Inspect chassis, mechanical assemblies, cables, and harnesses for defects.
- Prepare components by cutting and stripping wire, wiring, and fastening connections.
- Complete other production activities as needed.
What You’ll Need
- High school diploma, GED, or technical diploma, plus 3+ years of related assembly experience or military technical training.
- Ability to read work instructions, schematics, bills of material, diagrams, and engineering change orders.
- Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and small power tools.
- Fine-pitch SMT soldering and rework skills under magnification are a plus.
- Basic PC skills, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for extended periods, and regularly lift up to 40 pounds.
- Team-oriented, organized, and willing to work occasional overtime.
