- Maintain machine tooling, tool room inventory, measuring and gauge tools, and consumable support equipment.
- Contact vendors to stay current on tooling developments, cutting tools, and machining improvements.
Role Challenges and Expectations
This role balances safety, quality, schedule, and cost in a high-demand tooling environment. The successful candidate will use sound technical judgment, prioritize effectively, execute reliably, and continuously improve machining methods to increase throughput while meeting or exceeding customer specifications.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in machine shop operations, CNC milling, or related precision machining.
- 3–5 years of CNC programming experience using Mastercam or comparable CAD/CAM software.
- Proficient understanding of G-code, M-code, CNC setup, machining strategies, feeds and speeds, and cutting tool selection.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, 3D models, machining data, specifications, and project communications.
- Experience applying good manufacturing practices and selecting tooling and machining resources for die and mold production.
- Proficient with precision measuring equipment and inspecting work to tight tolerances, including ±0.002 inches where required.
- Experience with AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor, Mastercam, or similar CAD/CAM tools preferred.
- Strong communication, math, computer, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Trade school, associate degree, technical certificate, or related machining/manufacturing training preferred.
