About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented Production Artwork & Layout Specialist to support the preparation of graphics and artwork for a company specializing in custom-manufactured products.
This is a technical, production-focused position rather than a traditional creative design role. You will primarily work with existing customer logos, graphics, and artwork, making precise adjustments to ensure they meet specified dimensions and production requirements.
The ideal candidate is proficient in Adobe Illustrator, comfortable working with measurements and technical specifications, and enjoys solving layout challenges that require accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills, basic math skills, and the ability to follow detailed instructions are essential to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and adjust existing artwork: Edit customer-provided logos, graphics, and vector files to meet specific product dimensions and production requirements.
- Create accurate layouts: Use Adobe Illustrator to position, center, scale, and arrange artwork according to measurements, templates, and project specifications.
- Improve artwork quality: Clean up existing vector files, refine artwork edges, and address image-quality issues where possible to ensure graphics reproduce clearly.
- Apply measurements and calculations: Use dimensions, proportions, scaling, and basic math to ensure artwork fits the intended application accurately.
- Prepare proofs and mock-ups: Create 2D layouts and visual proofs for review and approval before work moves into production.
- Verify accuracy: Review layouts, measurements, positioning, and artwork details against customer instructions and approved specifications.
- Manage revisions: Update artwork based on customer feedback and internal requests while maintaining accuracy and organized file versions.
- Coordinate with internal teams: Communicate with relevant departments to clarify project requirements, resolve discrepancies, and ensure files are ready for production.
- Prepare production files: Organize and save final artwork in the appropriate formats for printing and manufacturing.
- Provide occasional production support: As needed, assist with print-job setup, media handling, and routine printer cleaning and maintenance after appropriate training.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in production artwork, prepress, graphic production, technical layout, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, including editing vector artwork and working with precise dimensions.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
- Basic math skills, including measurements, proportions, scaling, and dimensional accuracy.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to completing tasks.
- Ability to interpret written instructions, specifications, measurements, and existing artwork.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage revisions and maintain accurate digital files.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing artwork for large-format printing or physical production.
- Familiarity with print production requirements, including CMYK color, image resolution, and file preparation.
- Experience recreating, cleaning up, or refining existing logos and vector graphics.
- Familiarity with production equipment or printer job-setup software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Benefits
- IRA plan with company matching.
- Medical, dental, and vision plan options.
- Vacation and sick pay upon full-time hire.
Is This the Right Fit for You?
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys precision, measurements, and technical problem-solving more than creating original designs. Success comes from following specifications, identifying small errors, making accurate adjustments, and ensuring every file is ready for production.
If you have strong Adobe Illustrator skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and experience preparing files for real-world production, we encourage you to apply.
