Job details

Kelly Science & Clinical is currently recruiting candidates for a R&D Chemist position at a specialty chemical company in east Houston. The overall responsibility of the position is to analyze feed stock samples and evaluate chemical reactions and distillation processes in pilot plant units.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze samples utilizing GC, GC/MS, FTIR, AA and various Wet Chemistry techniques

  • Setup of lab scale distillation columns and reactors based on simulated process design

  • Utilize process simulation software to design reactions and distillation processes

  • Collaborate with various business unit team members during unit start-up and operation

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements

  • Write laboratory reports including all technical and analytical information

Requirements:

  • MS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field 

  • 3-5 years of experience with distillation towers and autoclave reactor systems

  • Due to the junior level of this role, PhD candidates will not be considered

  • Experience with several of the above listed instrumentation is desired

  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required

  • Written and verbal communication and active listening skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
