Controls/Automation Engineer
Kelly® Engineering is searching for Controls/Automation Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with a manufacturing client located near Elgin, IL. If you are passionate about shaping the world we live in and are ready to reengineer your future, trust the experts at hiring experts.
Overview
Our client is a high-volume manufacturer with stamping, automated welding, packaging, and assembly processes.
In this role you’ll develop controls and automation systems that supports production continuous improvement efforts or for new product introductions. This will include PLC, HMI, and robot design and programming. You’ll support maintenance with programming issues as well as lead your own projects.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop automation solutions for manufacturing processes
- Program PLCs, HMIs, Robots (Rockwell, Fanuc environment)
- Electrical control design incorporating relevant motion controls, servos, sensors, or vision systems.
- Facility layout
- Select/research appropriate vendors/integrator or lead in build of system
- System testing, troubleshooting, problem solving.
- Project engineering: define/justify cost, schedule, timeline, vendor, design system components, facility electrical requirements, etc.
- Collaborate and provide technical support/training to maintenance team.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, quality, production, maintenance, new product launch teams as needed to complete goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering required, prefer Electrical, Mechatronic, or Robotic
- 5+ years automation or control systems development experience either through an integrator, OEM machinery company or manufacturer
- Required competencies:
- RS Logix or Studio 5000 or related programming
- FactoryTalk HMI
- Fanuc multi-axis robotic programming, optimization & motion control improvements
- Control system design & build
- Component specification (sensors, circuits, motors, VFDs)
- I/O configuration
- Project engineering
- RS Logix or Studio 5000 or related programming
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or Solidworks
- Effective verbal & written communication skills
- Strong ability to collaborate across departments and with all levels of staff.
- Proficiency with any ERP, SAP a plus
- EPlan a plus
