Kelly Science is seeking an Animal Care Technician I for a growing company located in Boston, MA. This is a 9-month benefitted contract opportunity
 
Pay: $24-26/hour
Shift: Tuesday-Saturday 7:00am-3:30pm (Training will be Monday-Friday)
Employment Type: Full Time; 9 month
 
Job Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for daily operational maintenance of animal facilities and husbandry for various laboratory animal species per all relevant training, guidelines, regulations, and SOPs.

  • Perform daily vivarium physical plant and animal husbandry/maintenance tasks, including:

    • Cage changing

    • Cage washing (as required)

    • Receiving animals and supplies

    • Inventory control and stocking

    • Vivarium sanitation


  • Lift up to 50 lbs, move heavy objects, and perform repetitive motion tasks while standing for prolonged periods.

  • Support weekend, holiday, emergency, and after-hour operational responsibilities as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Percentage-based responsibilities:

  • 75%: Daily maintenance of animal facilities (sanitizing animal rooms, corridors, equipment) and daily husbandry (primarily rodents).

  • 15%: Manage consumable supplies inventory, order and receive animals and supplies, and maintain quality control documentation for husbandry tasks and facility equipment.

  • 10%: Perform or support cage wash operations (clean and sanitize cages/equipment) in collaboration with Cage Wash Technicians.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science preferred.

  • 0-5 years of experience working within an animal care facility working with rodent.

  • Comfortable working with Rodents on a daily basis.

  • AALAS-ALAT certification is highly desirable
