Boston area – Remote role with 100% travel
Direct Hire

Compensation: $35 – $43/hour base targeted, with significant overtime opportunities. Technicians typically earn between ~$75,000 – $180,000+, depending on hours worked and travel.

Kelly Engineering is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our client’s team. This role is responsible for machine startup, repair, and maintenance of medium- to large-sized industrial equipment at customer sites.

What You’ll Do:

  • Install, commission, repair, and maintain automated machinery at customer sites (electrical and mechanical)

  • Troubleshoot and optimize equipment to meet contracted efficiency rates; perform audits, upgrades, and operator training

  • Document all service activity (installations, repairs, commissioning, upgrades) in detailed reports

  • Recommend upgrades, retrofits, and spare parts to improve safety, performance, and reliability

  • Train customer personnel during installation, commissioning, and maintenance

  • Adapt to varying environments and resolve issues quickly in the field

What You’ll Need:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills; ability to read drawings and schematics

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, and servo systems preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills; able to train and support operators and leadership

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school or associate degree in a technical field preferred

  • 3+ years of field service experience, ideally with industrial equipment

Other Requirements:

  • Based in the Boston area (large regional customer base)

  • 100% travel required; passport needed (occasional Mexico and Canada travel)

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
