Position Summary

The Forklift Operator I is responsible for operating sit-down and/or clamp forklift equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. This role places a premium on safety, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast-paced distribution environment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Stack and store merchandise using forklift, clamp, and push-pull equipment

  • Safely unload inbound shipments and move products to storage locations

  • Pull and prepare products for shipment efficiently and accurately

  • Ensure exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped; perform order filling and order checking duties as required

  • Move product from staging/storage areas into trailers

  • Operate equipment safely and according to prescribed work methods

  • Maintain records and reports for inventory control and security

  • Assist in regular physical inventories and proper stock rotation

  • Perform cycle counts as needed to ensure accurate inventory

  • Complete equipment inspection forms prior to operation

  • Use RF scanning equipment to ensure inventory accuracy

  • Report inventory discrepancies to inventory control team and aid in resolution

  • Report safety concerns promptly to management

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Required Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma/GED preferred

  • Minimum 3 months’ forklift or warehouse distribution equipment experience

  • NFI forklift certification (must be able to obtain)

  • Ability to stand/walk for 10–12 hours; frequent bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), stretching, and reaching

  • Capacity to work in environments with variable noise, lighting, and temperature

  • Ability to cover distances in large facilities (>0.25 miles)

  • Attention to detail and excellent customer service skills

  • Basic math skills and general computer literacy (Excel knowledge preferred)

  • Availability to work irregular or extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
