Kelly is currently seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician for a long-term opportunity in the Wilmington, DE area! This role will be on a rotating shift schedule with overtime on an as needed basis.
As a valued member of our technical team, the Laboratory Technician will provide essential support to Lead Scientists and Technology Leaders in the design, preparation, and execution of experimental activities and studies. By leveraging established procedures, the Laboratory Technician will contribute to product development, application testing, technical service, and research focused on products or processes.
In this role, you will follow standardized operating procedures to carry out well-defined tasks, gaining hands-on experience and developing key technical skills necessary for routine laboratory work. You will be expected to understand how your responsibilities fit within the broader team objectives and communicate effectively in routine workgroup interactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within a laboratory team to assist chemists and engineers in the development, screening, and commercialization of new products and processes.

  • Execute laboratory work requests safely and efficiently, operate relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment, and accurately document experimental data.

  • Record readings and observations reliably, utilizing appropriate equipment and accurately integrating your results with those of your team.

  • Ensure proper calibration, safe use, and routine maintenance of laboratory instruments—including moderately complex machinery—and troubleshoot equipment issues or initiate repairs as required.

  • Maintain inventory of consumable materials, chemicals, and supplies by anticipating usage, understanding order lead times, and following purchasing procedures to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.

  • Communicate promptly and effectively with Technology Leaders or Lead Scientists to report issues or findings, enabling timely problem resolution and project progression.

  • Participate actively in work group and team meetings, contributing to discussions on safety, process improvements, problem-solving, and other operational topics.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities May Include:

  • Perform basic laboratory analyses

  • Sample preparation and analysis, including:

  • Weighing samples

  • Drying samples

  • Use of analytical balances

  • Use of ovens

  • Preparation techniques

  • Operate basic lab equipment:

  • pH meters

  • Turbidity meters

Supervision & Accountability
You will be responsible for managing your assigned tasks and ensuring the accuracy of your work. While you will have limited autonomy to modify work processes, you are expected to resolve routine problems by following established procedures. Guidance and supervision will be provided at a close to moderate level to support your development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong multitasking ability
    Excellent organizational skills
    Sense of urgency / ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • Prior laboratory or technician experience strongly preferred

  • Comfortable with basic lab tools and equipment

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures

  • Basic computer skills required (email, simple data entry)

  • Experience operating basic lab equipment including pH meters and Turbidity meters

  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods

  • Minimal computer work (email, basic systems)

Shift & Schedule:
Rotating 12-hour shifts
Schedule pattern:
3 Days: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
1 Day Off
3 Nights: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
7 Days Off
Then rotates

4 Days: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
1 Day Off
3 Nights: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
