Quality Technician (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Kings Mountain, NC
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $23–$24/hour
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
Overtime: Occasional Saturdays as required


Position Summary

The Quality Technician works in a laboratory environment performing inspections and analytical testing on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products. This role supports quality control operations and collaborates closely with production and technical teams to ensure products meet established standards.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Control Operations

  • Perform routine testing of raw materials to support purchasing decisions and reduce variability

  • Conduct testing on in-process batches and finished goods; communicate results and recommend adjustments as needed

  • Follow established testing procedures within the quality management system

  • Accurately document and record all quality control data and test results

  • Assist in investigating and resolving internal and external quality issues (nonconformances)

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace

  • Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements

  • Communicate effectively with operations, production, and technical teams

  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field preferred

  • Relevant experience in a chemical manufacturing or laboratory environment considered in lieu of degree

  • Experience with inks, coatings, or similar materials is a plus

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Ability to document results and communicate findings clearly

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

  • SAP experience preferred

  • Ability to distinguish color nuances (role-dependent)

  • Experience with color matching or color theory is a plus

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Frequent standing and walking in a laboratory setting

  • Occasional bending, kneeling, and squatting

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

  • Exposure to varying temperatures and chemical odors

Additional Information

  • This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with potential for long-term placement

  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a lab + manufacturing environment

  • Flexibility required for occasional Saturday overtime
