We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join their team in Richmond, VA. We are a three shift operation – this is a 1st shift position but candidates must be flexible to cover 2nd or 3rd as needed.

Job summary: 

Individual will maintain steady and compliant operation of high-tech automated equipment and drive continual improvement through electrical/PLC technology.  Work will include electronics, electrical control systems, server and process control, hydraulics/pneumatics, basic mechanical skills, and computer literacy. At the same time projects to support new business, improve equipment, labor efficiencies, material flow, and documentation are being conducted. The above activity is orchestrated in an environment of teamwork utilizing the company’s values. 

Summary of Essential job functions: With the direction of the Maintenance Manager, manages all activities associated with current and new business, production of products.  Ensures the timely completion of projects, production schedule in order to maintain necessary days of supply of finished goods to meet customer demand. 

  • Oversees Maintenance personnel and assist with troubleshooting various types of filling and packaging equipment.  Work includes the electromechanical aspects of the equipment operation

  • Assists Maintenance personnel with troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLC), operator interfaces, variable frequency drives, servomotors, encoders

  • Assist Maintenance personnel with basic electrical troubleshooting and repair such as starters, fuses, relays, wire blocks, wiring, breakers, etc.

  • Organize and align preventative maintenance on all aspects of equipment maintenance in safe manner.

  • Assist with diagnosis of electrical based discrepancies on equipment with or without the use of blueprints.  Provides written methods of operation and control of electronic systems

  • Communicate problems and solutions in appropriate manner, and takes direction from multiple sources

  • Analyzes and interprets downtime and OEE data.  Use this data to design and implement improvements

  • Maintains productive working relationships as part of a production team

  • Able to discern complex electrical drawings and correlate to actual equipment/circuit layout.  Able to inspect electrical control systems to trace circuitry or pinpoint potential problem areas

  • Responsible for maintaining validated state of equipment, which directly impacts product quality

  • Assist with confirming repair parts needed to be ordered

  • Work with maintenance personnel in troubleshooting effort

  • Adheres strictly to all cGMP’s, PPG’s, regulatory and safety standards and procedures to ensure the quality and integrity of products and safety of employees

  • Keeps working area in a clean and orderly condition according to PPG’s and 5S principles

  • Ensures that all machine guards, interlocks and other safety devices are properly installed and maintained in good working order.  Follows established lockout procedures when working on equipment

  • Ensures compliance in a manufacturing/packaging environment with Corporate (SCI, cGMP’s) guidelines, State, and Federal Requirements (FDA, OSHA, EPA) for product quality and safety. 

  • Interfaces on a daily basis with support departments including quality assurance (product, materials, and documentation), human resources, materials management, technical services, engineering (site and divisional), training, as well as site

Preferred Requirements: 
Education and Experience: 

  • BS/BA in Science, Engineering, Business or related field.

  • Must have a background in both Electrical and Mechanical trades

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment AND/OR a minimum of 3 to 5 years in direct supervision/management role. Candidate should possess education and/or background to support a strong focus on project implementation, improvement of process/equipment and operational effectiveness.
