Job Title: Laser Operator (2nd Shift)

Location: Medway, MA 02053, USA
Pay Rate: $19.38/hour + 10% shift differential (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4:30 PM – 3:00 AM


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for operating laser equipment, ensuring product quality, and supporting production processes in a fast-paced machine shop environment. The ideal candidate has prior laser experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work from technical drawings and specifications.


Training Information

  • Training will take place on 1st shift (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM) for approximately 4 weeks

  • 1st shift pay rate applies during training

  • After training, employees will transition to the 2nd shift schedule

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and inspect products on various laser equipment

  • Verify product quality and identify non-conforming parts

  • Perform basic setups for repeat or simple jobs under supervision

  • Monitor program variations (positioning, cycle time, etc.) and suggest improvements

  • Work from blueprints, drawings, and traveler instructions

  • Report issues or discrepancies to Supervisor or Lead

  • Support production with additional tasks such as assembly when needed

  • Perform quality checks using precision measuring tools

  • Maintain tooling and equipment to meet production specifications

  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance (PM) on equipment

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Follow all company safety rules, quality standards, and procedures

  • Communicate machine, job, or production issues to management

  • Assist in training or supporting team members when needed

  • Perform multiple operations and other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 6 months to 2 years of laser operation experience (job shop experience preferred)

  • Experience working with microscopes

  • Basic understanding of blueprints and technical drawings

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for tools and controls

  • Frequent reaching, balancing, stooping, and handling materials

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds

  • Strong visual abilities, including close, distance, color, and depth perception

  • Work performed in a general machine shop environment
