Kelly has an exciting opportunity available for Maintenance Specialist in the Palo Alto, CA area (on-site)! Be part of a motivated, customer-focused, and solution-oriented team where together we can achieve greatness and make a real impact!
Essential Job Duties
- This position requires proactive and detailed individual skills in various trades including plumbing, electrical & general building maintenance. Working with various meters, such as multimeters, gas meters, temp & air flow meter.
- Coordinate with external vendors or contractors when specialized repairs are needed
- Operating, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating & inspections of various laboratory equipment & tools.
- Maintain laboratory utilities, including compressed air, RO/DI water, natural gas, oxygen and nitrogen systems, and local gas detection systems. Install 1/8”- 1/2” soft & rigid tubing for air, gas and water applications & service runs.
- Preparing and installing laboratory equipment such as incubator shakers, laminar & powder hoods, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, -80°C freezers, refrigerators, environmental chambers, chillers & water circulators etc. As well as moving equipment around the facility.
- Be able to perform seismic bracing for small and large laboratory & process equipment.
- Safely handle and operate moving equipment including powered industrial trucks, pallet jacks, hydraulic dollies, and specialty moving tools.
- Create and maintain accurate records and reports using Excel spreadsheets
- Support equipment relocation and installation projects in compliance with site process & safety requirements (EH&S Dept.).
Required Qualifications & Working Conditions
- Positive demeanor with a strong ethic and desire to be big part of a growing organization
- Strong verbal and written communication and basic computer literacy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and cloud services like OneDrive and Teams
- Detail and Cleanliness orientated with ability to work on a timeline.
- Work independently with some supervision.
- Communicate with customers as needed to schedule repairs or complete work orders.
- Working at heights; on ladders up to 15’ Based on job variance- walking, climbing, lifting and working on hands/knees required.
- Frequent exposure to elements during work including working outside, during rain or extreme heat as well as non-weather-related jobs such as working in cold boxes and heat & humidity-controlled areas.
- Some jobs will involve high noise levels and require hearing protection.
- Employee will be required to become respirator certified
- Familiarity with safe handling procedures for laboratory equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- High School Diploma with a technical diploma such as AA/AS degree in Facilities Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and/or trade school courses.
- Experience in facilities maintenance in a laboratory environment
Working Hours & Flexibility
- Normal Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Shift Work: Ability to work alternative shifts (10:30 AM – 6:30 PM) for approximately 30 days, 2–3 times per year.
- Flexibility:
- Able to work overtime as needed.
- Able to be on call for after-hours support.
- Able to work overtime as needed.
What would make You Stand Out?
- Familiarity with AC/DC electrical principles, basic plumbing, refrigeration systems & controls
- OSHA safety training and forklift/powered industrial truck certification.
- Knowledge of gas detection systems and safety protocols.
