Kelly is currently seeking an experienced R&D Laboratory Technician in the Florence, KY area! This position is responsible for supporting the growth of Engineered Solutions and other businesses through application development, technical service, and testing on existing and new products. A significant component of this role is the preparation and evaluation of acrylic materials. This position will be working on multiple projects at a time and interacting with all scientists/engineers in the group.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Sample preparation: Select relevant samples and prepare samples for thermomechanical testing.

  • Samples are prepared via table saw, bandsaw, router, drum and hand sanders, etc.

  • Follow established procedures to perform mechanical tests including tensile and flexural strength, Charpy and Izod impact, weathering, heat distortion, hardness, swell ratio, etc.

  • Perform measurements including yellowness index, light transmission, haze, color, gloss, and thermoforming properties.?

  • Accurately document all observations and experimental results.

  • Organize and analyze data to explain conclusions to an internal audience.

  • Write simple summaries of results.

  • Table saw, Band saw, Router/milling machine, Orbital sander, Drum sander
