Position: Legal Invoice Analyst I
Location: Hybrid (Onsite/Remote) Minneapolis, MN
Contract Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $28/hour
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Invoice Analyst I with paralegal experience for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. In this hybrid position, you will play a key role in auditing electronically submitted legal fee and expense invoices from a network of law firms and vendors. You’ll ensure invoices adhere to specific billing guidelines, verify accuracy, make necessary line item adjustments, and document your findings with precision and clarity. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your paralegal background, analytical mindset, and organizational skills with potential for long-term employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently and accurately review, analyze, and audit legal invoice entries submitted electronically by law firms and vendors.
- Receive invoice assignments from Operations Support or through self-assignment workflows.
- Verify compliance with legal billing guidelines and ensure the accuracy of UTBMS task, fee, activity, and expense codes.
- Make adjustments to invoice line items when guidelines are not met, documenting the rationale and billing provision violated.
- Forward audited invoices through the review chain and provide guidance to business unit partners as needed.
- Collaborate and calibrate findings with fellow Legal Invoice Analysts and Quality Assurance team members.
- Exercise discretion and sound judgment in audit decisions and adjustment rationales.
- Maintain organized documentation and workflow to ensure timely processing of assigned invoices.
Qualifications:
- Paralegal or legal billing/audit experience required.
- Familiarity with legal billing processes and terminology; experience with UTBMS codes preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make and document sound decisions.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a high volume workload efficiently.
- Solid computer proficiency; ability to quickly learn electronic invoice review and billing platforms.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with business math and professional phone etiquette.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
- Multijurisdictional legal claims experience is a plus.
