Kelly Services is partnering with a rapidly growing manufacturing organization seeking a strategic and driven Senior Buyer to join their procurement team in Waukegan, IL. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys negotiating, supplier management, forecasting, and driving supply chain excellence.

What You’ll Do
As a Senior Buyer, you’ll play a key role in supporting production operations by ensuring raw materials and components are sourced efficiently, delivered on time, and purchased at the best value.
Key Responsibilities
- Source raw materials and components through domestic and international supplier networks
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery terms, and supplier agreements
- Manage purchasing activities, forecasts, inventory levels, and material planning
- Coordinate purchase orders and monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery
- Partner with planning, production, quality, and operations teams to support manufacturing goals
- Resolve supplier, delivery, quality, and inventory issues proactively
- Analyze costs and identify opportunities for savings and process improvements
- Maintain supplier relationships and support ongoing supplier performance programs
- Support R&D and new product initiatives with item setup and sourcing coordination
- Manage procurement reporting, open PO tracking, and inventory optimization efforts
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field preferred
- 5–8 years of purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Chemical purchasing experience highly preferred
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems and inventory planning
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and analytical skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- APICS or CPM certification is a plus
