Senior Warehouse Clerk – Shipping, Receiving & Overhead Crane Support
$20.50–$22.50/hr+ | Bedford Park, IL
Employer: Kelly Services
Job Type: Full-time, 6-Month Assignment with Possible Extension
Shift: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Start: As soon as selected and cleared
From the Desk of the Recruiter
I want to be direct so the right person applies.
This is a hands-on warehouse role inside a small industrial parts and equipment-service operation. The team is small, so this is not a job where you only do one task all day. You may be receiving materials, moving parts, supporting shipments, operating equipment, checking measurements, updating paperwork, or helping the team solve the next immediate need.
We are looking for someone with a steady, positive attitude who already understands warehouse pace and safety. You should be comfortable operating an overhead crane/hoist, working with material handling equipment, staying organized, and stepping into different warehouse duties without needing extensive training.
This assignment is expected to last at least six months, and there is a strong possibility it may continue longer based on business need and performance. Longer-term opportunity is possible, but it is earned through attendance, safety, accuracy, and how well you support the team.
If you’re still reading and this sounds like the type of environment where you do your best work, let’s get into the details.

Job Details
Pay: $20.50–$22.50/hr+ based on experience
Higher Consideration: Strong candidates with recent overhead crane, forklift, industrial parts, measurement, and warehouse documentation experience may be reviewed for higher pay, based on approval
Location: Bedford Park, IL
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Assignment Length: Minimum 6-month assignment, with possible extension
Environment: Small shop / warehouse team of approximately 7–10 people
Equipment: Overhead crane/hoist, sit-down forklift, scanning/WMS tools, basic measuring tools, and light Excel/reporting work
Important: No saw use required
?
What You’ll Do
Support daily shipping and receiving for industrial parts, materials, and equipment-related items
Operate an overhead crane/hoist safely when moving assigned materials or parts
Use a sit-down forklift and other warehouse equipment as needed
Receive, stage, organize, and prepare materials for internal movement or shipment
Assist with loading, unloading, inventory movement, and warehouse organization
Use scanners or warehouse systems to help track material movement
Complete basic documentation, light Excel updates, shipping records, or internal reports as assigned
Use or learn basic measuring tools, such as calipers, when parts or material verification is needed
Help communicate shipment or material-status information when directed
Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and organized
Follow PPE and safety rules, including wearing a hard hat during crane-related work when required
?
What I’m Looking For
At least 6 months of recent overhead crane/hoist experience required
1+ year of overhead crane/hoist experience strongly preferred
Crane experience within the last 2 years will stand out most
Recent experience in shipping/receiving, material handling, warehouse operations, industrial parts, inventory movement, or small-shop support
Sit-down forklift experience strongly preferred
Comfortable using scanners, basic WMS tools, Excel, and warehouse paperwork
Comfortable learning or using calipers and other basic measuring tools
Able to handle physical warehouse movement, lifting, staging, and organizing materials
Strong communication, attention to detail, and willingness to support different daily needs
Associate’s degree or related technical education is a plus, but relevant hands-on experience matters most
?
Why This Role Stands Out
$20.50–$22.50/hr+ based on experience
Stable Monday–Friday first-shift schedule
Six-month assignment with a real possibility of extension
Small-team setting where dependable, skilled people are noticed quickly
Good fit for someone who wants more responsibility than a basic warehouse associate role
Strong opportunity to use crane, forklift, shipping/receiving, inventory, and documentation skills in one position
?
What to Be Ready For
This role is best for someone who can handle variety without losing accuracy.
You should be ready to:
Move between shipping, receiving, material handling, crane support, forklift work, and paperwork as needed
Work safely around industrial parts and equipment
Ask questions before making an unsafe or uncertain move
Keep details accurate in a small team where mistakes are noticeable
Maintain a professional and helpful attitude, even when priorities shift during the day
This is not the right fit for someone who only wants one repetitive duty or needs significant training before being comfortable with warehouse equipment and material movement.
?
Attendance Expectations
Attendance and punctuality are extremely important in this small-team environment.
You must be able to report on time every scheduled day
Candidates should plan to arrive 5–10 minutes early and be ready to work at 6:00 AM
Known time off must be disclosed before starting
Missed shifts or attendance issues may jeopardize the assignment
The right person understands that in a small warehouse, every person’s reliability affects the whole operation.
?
Pre-Employment Requirements
Resume review
Interview
Background screening, including Social Security trace and NCRL screening
Short drug screen
