Kelly Government Solutions is seeking an experienced Import Compliance Specialist to establish and support an in-house import compliance function in response to the evolving global tariff environment. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, minimizing tariff exposure, and supporting import operations through accurate classification, documentation, and regulatory guidance.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Customs Broker with extensive experience in U.S. import compliance, HTSUS classification, and customs documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review import transactions and documentation to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.

  • Validate and audit Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) classifications.

  • Collaborate with external Customs Brokers to resolve classification discrepancies and compliance issues.

  • Prepare, review, and support customs documentation related to duty-free entry programs, exemption programs, and special tariff provisions.

  • Conduct internal audits of import activity to identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.

  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding tariff impacts, import regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Maintain complete and accurate import records in accordance with CBP regulations and company policies.

  • Monitor changes to customs regulations, HTSUS updates, tariff measures, and trade regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.

  • Support initiatives that reduce duty costs and mitigate import compliance risks.

Required Qualifications

  • Current U.S. Customs Broker License (Required).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in import compliance, trade compliance, or customs compliance.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and HTSUS classification.

  • Experience working directly with Customs Brokers and CBP requirements.

  • Hands-on experience with customs documentation, duty-free entry programs, and special tariff classifications.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting scientific, research, manufacturing, or government-related imports.

  • Previous in-house import compliance experience.

  • Experience with:

    • Tariff mitigation strategies

    • CBP Trade Remedy Programs

    • Customs Rulings

    • Current and proposed tariff measures


  • Experience using ACE, ACE Reports, broker portals, customs compliance software, or ERP systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Work Environment
