Kelly® Engineering is seeking a skilled Machine Maintenance Technician for a direct-hire opportunity with a leading manufacturer in Rockford, IL. This position is critical to maintaining peak operational efficiency and safety within our client’s manufacturing environment. Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair of shop machinery and production equipment with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot and repair advanced hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Identify required parts and coordinate repairs to ensure quick resolution and minimal downtime.
- Install new machinery, relocate existing equipment, and perform equipment leveling, alignment, and calibration using precision instruments.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately in work requests and service records.
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas while identifying potential hazards.
- Support emergency repairs, overtime assignments, and temporary shift changes as production demands.
- Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and skilled trades.
- Assist with additional operational tasks as required.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in machine maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
- Technical training or completion of an industrial maintenance apprenticeship preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and drawings.
- Proficiency with precision inspection tools (micrometers, dial indicators, electronic levels, alignment tools, etc.).
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, as well as industry-standard maintenance equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to work overtime, on-call for emergencies, and alternate shifts as required.
- Ability to support and prioritize production maintenance schedules.
- Must perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and working in an industrial environment for extended periods.
- Must be able to work safely around heavy machinery and production equipment.
