Job Summary:
The Inspector/Packer I is responsible for ensuring the quality and proper packing of molded products, maintaining clean work areas, operating molding machines, and supporting production and shipping activities. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow standard operating procedures, and the flexibility to assist with various production duties as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- In-Process Inspection: Frequently examine the visual attributes of each product for issues such as discoloration, shorts, burns, contamination sinks, splay, delamination, and other defects.
- Records Data: Accurately record information related to products and job performance as required by management.
- Packing: Transfer products from catch bins/boxes to shipping containers, transport to shipping areas, weigh correctly, apply accurate labels (using SAP), and supply boxes to molding presses. Stack finished goods on pallets as specified.
- Work Area Maintenance: Keep production and packing areas clean by sweeping floors, picking up stray parts, and removing dust, dirt, grease, or oil from molding equipment. Clean up any oil or water spills and leaks promptly.
- Machine Operation: Occasionally operate manually operated molding presses to remove molded products and/or runners, pack products in appropriate containers, and correctly place inserts into molds. Perform secondary operations such as reaming, trimming, facing, and hot stamping as needed.
- Training: Assist in training new Inspector/Packer I employees as required.
- Sorting and Reworking: Sort and/or rework products that do not meet customer requirements. Properly document and label non-conforming products, and assist with sampling and gauging reject products.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing or similar environment is a plus.
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills (SAP experience a plus).
- Ability to lift and move boxes/containers as required.
1st Shifts:
Week 1: Week 1: M, T, F, Sa 8am-8pm
Week 2: S, W, Th 8am-8pm
Payrate: $14.66-26.39 per hour
2nd Shift:
Week 1: M, T, F, S 8pm-8am
Week 2: Su, W, Th 8pm-8am
Payrate: $16.86-30.35 per hour
