Job Title: Assembly Operator III
Location: Arden, NC
Shift: 1st (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Pay Rate: $22/hr
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Assembly Operator III to join our team in the fiber optics manufacturing division. This role involves the assembly, termination, and testing of various fiber optic cable assemblies. You’ll contribute directly to building state-of-the-art optical products, participating in new product development, and resolving process challenges.
Our ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with a strong work ethic, high attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining quality standards. Experience with fiber optics and the desire to continuously learn and collaborate within a team are essential.
Bonus and retention awards may be offered for successful completion of key training milestones and ongoing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Polish, assemble, terminate, and test fiber optic cables and connectors
- Package connector components and operate fiber routers/over-molding machines as required
- Support prototype, test, or pre-release builds for new optical products
- Measure, inspect, and troubleshoot parts using calipers, gauges, and microscopes
- Perform minor equipment repairs and recommend process improvements
- Ensure thorough documentation for product traceability
- Follow contamination control methods and cleaning procedures for optical assemblies
- Maintain organized workspace, adhere to safety procedures, and comply with company policies
- Work independently after initial training, producing quality products with limited supervision
- Effectively communicate with team members to meet customer needs
- Work overtime if required to achieve production goals
- Successfully operate machinery and work in a clean room environment wearing PPE
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience; fiber optic manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Experience with SAP Manufacturing and ISO 9001 standards a plus
- Proven hand-eye dexterity and motor skills for delicately handling small components
- Must be able to distinguish color-coded fiber optic cables
- Experience with hand tools and blueprint reading preferred
- Ability to work on multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, prioritizing as needed
- Outstanding attention to detail and strict adherence to product specifications
- Team-oriented, safety-conscious, and committed to quality
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and remain stationary for extended periods
