The Machine Operator is responsible for the overall production and operation of a highly complex converting machine, including set-up, operation, troubleshooting, training, housekeeping and basic crew-level maintenance. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality machine performance within the designated department while supporting overall production goals.
Shift: 1’st Shift, hours 5AM to 1PM
Pay Rate: $20.00 to $24.00 depending on experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up, operate, and monitor assigned converting machinery to produce products that meet customer specifications, company quality standards, and production schedules.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report mechanical or electrical issues affecting machine performance, performing basic adjustments when appropriate and escalating maintenance concerns as needed.
- Inspect product output throughout the production process to ensure compliance with quality standards and promptly report any non-conforming materials or production issues to production management.
- Accurately record and maintain production data within the designated production software systems to ensure reliable operational reporting and traceability.
- Maintain an organized and efficient work area by staging materials, managing workflow, and supporting smooth machine operation and production continuity.
- Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and operational guidelines, proactively identifying and reporting safety concerns to minimize workplace risk.
- Collaborate with production leadership to achieve performance objectives and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, output, and operational effectiveness.
- Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 4-6 years of machine operation experience preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Previous experience in a corrugated manufacturing facility preferred.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines.
- Reliable attendance and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime as needed.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of training methods within a manufacturing or production operation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues or irregularities during production.
- Must be able to complete tasks that require a particular speed or productivity quota.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a prolonged period as well as bending and stooping regularly.
