 Structural Steel Fabricator 

Pay: $20.00+ per hour, plus 10% shift premium for 2nd shift
Schedule:

  • 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM – 3:00 AM

Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Structural Steel Fabricator to join our team in Grand Rapids. The ideal candidate has at least 2-3 years of experience in fabricating structural steel components and miscellaneous metal parts, with strong skills in layout, welding, and working with stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.

Core Duties:

  • Assist with positioning, lifting, and removing materials to facilitate fitting and welding

  • Accurately perform layout tasks using a tape measure

  • Load, stack, and move materials and equipment manually or with a crane

  • Operate all yard equipment, including overhead cranes

  • Secure pieces for movement using chains and clamps

  • Prepare workpieces by cleaning and grinding surfaces for fabrication, welding, painting, or shipping

  • Collect and dispose of job site scrap, and maintain cleanliness of workstations

  • Hold or obtain welding certifications for carbon steel (MIG and SMAW); TIG welding experience for stainless steel and aluminum is a plus

  • Effectively interpret blueprints

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating attention to detail and proactive initiative

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years fabricating experience preferred

  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Strong reading, writing, and mathematical skills

  • Good analytical, mechanical, and manual abilities

  • Proficient English communication and interpersonal skills

  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
