l Shift: 2nd Shift (2pm-10pm), some overtime during the week and potential Saturdays for coverage
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer / Team Lead will direct skilled-trades personnel, assign and monitor work schedules, ensure compliance with HSE policies, diagnose machine malfunctions, and assist in maintenance planning to optimize reliability, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering analysis, technical expertise, and project coordination for factory machinery and infrastructure
- Assign, monitor, and oversee the work of skilled-trades personnel for customer requests, preventative maintenance, and project execution
- Develop and manage short-term schedules and priorities for team achievement
- Follow and instruct team on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and safe working methods; escalate risky behaviors as appropriate
- Plan and execute maintenance of equipment to improve reliability, efficiency, quality, and safety
- Diagnose machine malfunctions, recommend solutions, and support execution of repair and improvement plans
- Review and analyze spare parts lists, preventive maintenance plans, and equipment documentation
- 3+ years of maintenance, mechanical engineering, or factory automation experience
- 3+ years of equipment troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of tooling fixtures and assembly equipment
- Previous supervision of union employees (20–25 or more)
- Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance
- Able and willing to work 2nd shift and support multi-shift/extended-shift operations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work occasional overtime, including weekends
- Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Maintenance leadership experience in a union environment
- Technical experience in design/diagnostics of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Automation and controls troubleshooting including Allen-Bradley components and Rockwell Automation PLC software
- 1+ years interfacing with machines via communication protocols (Ethernet, DeviceNet, Serial, Profibus, Modbus, etc.)
- Experience using SAP PM module
- Experience with machinery/equipment safety standards (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR 1910, NFPA 79, NFPA 70E)
- High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or related field) or equivalent work experience preferred but not required.
