Job Title: Quality Technician
Location: New Albany, Indiana
Hours: Monday- Friday 7am-3:30pm
Payrate: $18-$24
Job Summary:
As an Quality Technician, you will be responsible for performing visual inspections, verifying dimensions, and ensuring the quality of parts and processes. You will accurately complete quality documentation, manage SAP transactions, and operate TIG welding equipment and hand tools. Your expertise will support continuous improvement initiatives and help maintain the high standards of safety and quality within our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety policies/procedures, actively utilize Stop Work Authority, and complete required safety sign-offs.
- Adhere to all quality policies/procedures, practicing Stop Work Authority as needed.
- Fully understand routings, technical drawings, blueprints, and related documentation required for job completion.
- Ensure cleanliness by participating in daily clean-up and conducting daily TPMs (Total Productive Maintenance).
- Communicate effectively with department leads and team operators.
- Complete all training documentation and on-the-job training (OJT) assignments.
- Accurately perform inspections, measurements, and ensure completed parts reflect the technical drawings and specifications.
- Assist with gage calibration activities onsite and offsite, updating the gage tracking system as required.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify product dimensions and quality.
- Monitor and advise on welding operations to maintain adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address cladding issues and optimize processes.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment at all times.
Key Accountabilities:
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, understanding, and following all related procedures.
- Ensure product processing and inspection align with the control plan, routings, and specifications.
- Strive to meet daily production and quality goals.
- Maintain reliability and dependability in attendance and performance.
- Communicate efficiently across all shifts regarding safety, quality, and product concerns.
Physical Demands:
- Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Walk, bend, stoop, and lift/carry up to 33 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating machinery and tools.
- Work in an industrial environment with controlled temperatures, dust/mist collection, and exposure to noise.
- Wear required PPE, including safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, and gloves.
Problem Solving:
- Set up and operate according to order selection procedures, solving routine issues independently.
- Escalate recurring or major concerns to the supervisor for resolution.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or quality control environment strongly preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
